Although today's research does not yet prove that crystals support our health and well-being, they can be a tool for deepening your connection to the world and your own intuition. So how to meditate with crystals?
Crystals are more than just beautiful rocks. Actually, technically they are minerals. Ancient writings show that crystals have been used as a healing agent for many years; More recently, Western culture has adopted them in revivals of various New Age practices. The modern belief that crystals have healing powers dates back to Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt,(1) Greece and Rome.(2) In Chinese medicine, crystals are also believed to contain "qi" or "life energy". In Buddhist belief, crystals are used as messengers to transmit various energies.
Rebecca Gitana, a certified crystal healer, says, “Magic is nothing more than a shift in consciousness. If you want to experience the magic of crystals, you must believe and be there.”
So, which crystals can you choose during meditation? How to meditate with crystals?
How to choose crystals?
Be sure to approach intuitively when collecting crystals. Have both an open heart and an open mind, and be very curious when buying crystals in a shop. Since they are all energies, just listen to what attracts you at that moment.
One of the biggest benefits of crystals is that since our heads are so full inside, crystals can help us become more rooted and grounded in the present moment by giving us a connection to the world. But if you're the type of person who needs a little more structure or guidance as you learn to trust your intuition, crystals provide insights on how to begin exploring the world.
For example; If you want to feel more grounded, you should choose crystals colored in orange, red, metal or deep earth tones. If you want to connect to a higher realm, clear crystals are better.
Here are some special crystals to choose from to get you started...
Amethyst: Used for mental clarity.
Celestite: It is associated with inner peace.
Selenite: Can cleanse other crystals and is powerful for meditation.
Peacock gem: Brings great happiness and joy.
Petrified wood: Soothes survival fears.
Tiger's eye: Associated with finding courage and confidence.
Mookaite Jasper: A nourishing stone that can be used when you are experiencing stress.
Tourmaline: Helps remove negative energy.
If you notice that any stone seems to attract you, remember that stone is perfect for you.
Getting to know your crystals
Crystals have energy, don't necessarily get to know your crystals. You can sleep with them or keep them by your bedside to connect with them. Keep them as companions and recognize their energy. You will find what these stones have to offer you.
You can also program crystals. For example, if you are having trouble flying on an airplane, you can talk to your favorite crystal and ask it to prepare and support you. Crystals are also programmed in technology to transmit energy. (3)
How to meditate with crystals?
There is no "wrong" way to meditate with crystals. But if you don't know where to start, this article can help you.
- Choose a song. You may want to play some soft music or meditate quietly. Sometimes you can chant or sing songs to "activate" the crystals.
- Involve your body. You may want to put stones on the body. Lie down and put on meditation music and place it on different areas of your body connected to the chakras, known as energy centers. Placing them on these parts of your body can help you tap into your intuition. A particularly nice one to start with is to place a crystal on your third eye chakra, which is located between the eyes on your forehead. This is said to help ground you in the space you are in.
- Go slow. Take some time to come out of meditation and process anything that may come up during meditation. You may want to take time to write down anything that comes up or what you think the crystals are trying to tell you.
Cultural appropriation
If you choose to engage in practices such as crystal healing, be sure to respect its history and history and practice cultural appreciation rather than cultural appropriation. A study has revealed that many crystals are mined irresponsibly, when buying make sure where your crystals come from and if possible you are buying from local people. (4)
It's hard to know if using crystals really works...
However, there is little research to prove that crystals themselves actually help. Instead, studies have demonstrated the power of both the placebo effect and interpersonal healing. (5)
While the placebo effect has been derided as evidence that a particular drug doesn't work, researchers are starting to look at it as evidence of how powerful the brain-body connection can be. In other words, let's say you take a pill that's supposed to help reduce the severity of your migraine, but that pill is a placebo, meaning it doesn't actually contain any ingredients that will reduce the severity of your headache. However, after taking it, you will start to feel better over time. The fact that you feel better and that your brain believes that the drug is working and reacts accordingly, even if the drug itself does not work, may indicate how strong the brain-body connection is. (6)
So crystals may not be working, but if a placebo effect occurs and you notice signs of improvement, then using crystals could be really beneficial for you.
Although today's research does not yet prove that crystals support our health and well-being, they can be a tool for deepening your connection to the world and your own intuition. Crystals can expand your practice as another tool to support your journey. You may find that using crystals while meditating can create more focus and peace in your life, even if it is a placebo effect.
