Analysis of dreams is one of the most powerful tools to know ourselves better and transform ourselves. Because the dreams we see every night when we lay our heads on the pillow actually tell us about ourselves. You may have noticed from what I said; I've been thinking a lot and doing a lot of research on dreams and dream analysis these days . I'm lucky that I was recently able to ask all the questions I was wondering about to Dream Analysis Coach, AyÅŸen Mehtap Kurbanzade ! During our enjoyable conversation with him, we also touched upon his coaching sessions, which blended his 20 years of experience on the healing power of dream analysis with ICF Erickson Coaching Training. Let's start!
I have many questions about dream analysis, but I think everything depends on remembering dreams first. First of all, what should we do to remember our dreams more often? Is there a practical technique you can suggest us?
Dreams give us information about ourselves. That's why remembering dreams is a matter of confrontation... You need to feel ready and wonder, "What does my dream want to tell me?" One of the most effective things you can do to remember your dreams better is to set your intention while falling asleep. Intention is a very powerful triggering energy. Of course, in order to realize this intention from the heart and with a calm mind, our body must be relaxed and our mind must be quiet. Maybe for this, we should talk a little about brain waves and frequencies.
Every night, our brain goes into the deepest Delta brain wave during REM sleep. In order to switch to this frequency, there is a transition from Beta to Alpha, then to Theta and Delta , and at the last point, the brain enters a state of sleep. In fact, we can say that the brain naturally goes into the deepest state of meditation during sleep, without any effort . It is precisely at this point, that is, in order to fall asleep and remember the dreams that await us; It is important to calm the body, mind and soul. Doing meditations that relax the body triggers the intention to remember the dream. At the same time, be sure to have a notebook and pen at your bedside. As soon as you wake up, write down what you remember in its raw form. In its purest form, rushes such as getting up for work, cooking dinner, getting the children ready for school, that is , without the cortex coming into play ... In this way, as you write over and over again every day, the brain continues to remember and gets motivated. Writing in its raw form is a very powerful element that also serves analysis.
How can we distinguish whether the dreams we see are a guide or not?
In fact, the dream analysis sessions we provide serve exactly this. Of course, when a person encounters scenarios that are too repetitive or that he can somehow make sense of, he can direct his attention to them and begin to question himself. However, if what is desired is to discover the deepest reasons for these repetitions and to make analyzes and deep readings based on the person's individual journey, that is exactly what we do in the sessions.
Dream analysis is a completely scientific and very powerful awareness study. We can also call it a foreign language that we speak to ourselves but that we have not used or heard until today . There are many things that the symbols and scenarios coming from the Essence, from our existence, want to tell us. In fact, sometimes such fantastic findings can emerge that the points we reach can take us back in time, to the person's birth, or even further back, generations ago.
So, how can we interpret the times when we have nightmares?
We can describe nightmares as symbols that we encounter when we do not hear the voice of the unconscious . If we are having a nightmare, it is because we do not see or hear the records that want to show themselves to us. Those scenarios, which can no longer be heard by us even by shouting, start to scream after a point and appear as nightmares. Sometimes the symbols we see during a nightmare may be symbols that have transformed for that person along the way, and if we do not write down dreams, our cortex may gradually begin to strengthen the perception that those symbols now mean nightmares. That's why writing is so important.
Yes, of course, we can see some scary scenes in our dreams, and we are very impressed, but those things we call "nightmares" may also be giving us meaningful messages. This is where analysis comes into play again. Because most of the time, we are the ones who label the images we see in nightmares as "scary"; These are our learned, transmitted, stereotyped judgments. What makes us perceive it as scary? We ask ourselves such questions in analysis sessions and realize them.
What does it mean to see the same faces or the same symbols in a dream?
It's important to talk about this, because repetitive symbols and scenarios don't always present themselves in a frightening way. They just keep repeating and appear in continuity. Fundamentally, the reason is the same: They repeat because we don't hear their voices, ignore them, or cover them up. This is our brain's defense mechanism. Think of the repeating faces and symbols like a little child trying to get attention, “See me, see me!” he jumps. He wants to be noticed and seen. Every time we choose not to see it, every time we decide not to open Pandora's box, we actually guarantee that it will appear before us once again.
How does a dream analysis coaching session proceed?
Imagine that you see your dreams, you remember them very well, and you notice some repetitions. Later? Here we take the next steps together in dream analysis coaching sessions. These steps represent the process of first breaking down our dreams to understand what they are telling us, and then structuring them to give them meaning again by updating them. Because a new building process is required for every individual who wants to experience a deep transformation . In the sessions, we advance this process together, layer by layer, step by step.
First, we listen to the client's dream, scene by scene. Most of the time, the first sentences of the client's narrative tell us where we should turn our direction. We discover that point and set out and carry out the expansions and analyzes of the symbols that the person frequently encounters along the way. I accompany the person to focus on his own story with powerful questions, examples and experiences, and most importantly, with the data of the universal symbol language, and to give meaning to what comes to the surface in a way that will be useful to him today. I say accompanying, because only the person himself can do this. Otherwise, it is my opinion and I am expressing my own experience.
This is such an individual journey... It can go back to the person's RNA records and the information passed on to him/her from his/her parents . Of course, if the person is willing to open up and deepen within himself, this process becomes easier. And as we focus more on these analyses, the person begins to undergo transformations that affect the present. He is learning to live his daily life in accordance with the factory settings. Our genes are no longer our destiny; Biologically, we are all equal universal creatures, men and women. Our differences are in the information conveyed and the different processes experienced. Every person is born, grows and dies. The life story of this creature. But the information that was transferred to us during these processes and before we were born causes us to look at each other differently. In this sense, you can think of dream analysis coaching sessions as a healing journey.
